Hi!
Thanks Zee for reading.
Yeah the model captures quite a bit.
Have the course made any influence on your online persona?
Take care

I have primarily been a private person with little footprint on online platforms. The resident-visitor continuum was such an eye-opening revelation to my online persona!

Thank you for reading. You are obviously right, it will take a lot of time and other resources to implement ONL lessons in our corresponding teaching. But ONL is successful to give me at least one lesson that we need to evolve.

In particular, I also can not imagine how I could immediately start implementing some of the pedagogical tools (e.g. PBL setup or Salmon’s Five Stage Model). However, all of us have met with new technological tools and gadgets which are a lot more easier and faster to implement. Apparently, none of us had to take the ONL202 to learn about this tools, but participation to the course simply generated the opportunity.
Thus, in my opinion, ONL202 provided us a range of alternative pedagogical approaches and perspectives. It will take time to digest them all, and to figure out if/how these could integrated into existing courses. Seen from this perspective, I believe short-term benefits of participating this course are apparent but long-term (and a lot deeper) benefits will require additional steps but definitely worth the effort.

Thanks Muzi. You are right, ONL has been a great eye opener for us in different ways.

Personally I believe that Gilly’s 5 step model was an eye opener for me. Specifically with the intended outcome of online learning. I can only suggest that future participants keep an open mind during the course as the learning that takes place is extremely helpful.

Thanks for reading.
You said it right, its quite challenging to implement.
I have a course coming up, I am not sure I have time to make any big change in the course. But, at list forming learning group is in my list for the future course.

Thank you for giving such a clear connection between theory and practice. I think all of us in my group (6) have a similar experience of the course. Now, as teachers the challenge is to implement the five stages in our own courses, to see when they are more or less relevant. Like we said in our pbl6, both the subjects and the student group dynamics are different.

Indeed, that was really useful (thanks to you for making the combined map). It’s quite useful to track the digital literacy of a group of people over time.
