Purpose<\/strong>
The Swedish IT-Security Network for PhD students (SWITS) was created in 2001 with the purpose
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To enhance cooperation between Swedish PhD candidates and research labs
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To identify PhD courseware usable on national level and make these available to participating departments
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To identify existing PhD courses at Swedish Universities\/ University Colleges and make them available for all students within the network
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To participate in the organization of\u00a0 compact IT security courses or summer schools for PhD students at international level\u00a0 and open them for all students of the network
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To share outside\/expert lecturers


Activities<\/strong>
Main activities are the annual 2-days SWITS seminars are held each spring in which:
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Supervisors give an overview to their research areas
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Ph.D. students have\u00a0 the possibility to present their research work, to get feedback and inspirations from other students and supervisors
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Research methodologies in IT security are discussed
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Cooperation in cybersecurity education and exchange of courseware and sharing of cybersecurity infrastructure is discussed, and introductory tutorials and invited talks are given<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, PhD courses are offered by the partner organisations.

Communication<\/strong>
A SWITS email distribution list (swits@lists.kau.se), on which more than 200 network participants are currently subscribed, is used to distribute information about the SWITS seminars, IT security PhD courses, summer schools, courseware and IT security conferences\/events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
