Nordic Conference on PhD Supervision (CoPhS)

September 30 to October 2, 2024
Call for papers – Doctoral education theme
Doctoral education plays a central role for our higher education institutions and higher education. Doctoral education, i.e. education leading to a doctoral or licentiate degree, is not only the highest formal level of education in Swedish higher education, it is also where our future employees are trained in the roles of researchers and university teachers.
Compared to higher education at undergraduate and graduate level, education at this level is much less researched, both in Sweden and internationally. Recently, however, interest in studying doctoral education from different perspectives has grown, and the journal Högre utbildning has played an important role in this context. In the research overview “Research on Swedish doctoral education 2000-2020”, Eva Brodin and Anders Sonesson note that the journal that has published by far the most research articles on Swedish doctoral education is Högre utbildning (Brodin and Sonesson, 2022).
To further stimulate the development of our knowledge and understanding of doctoral education in the Swedish and Nordic context, Högre utbildning now invites you to the theme “Doctoral education”. We welcome different types of texts that deal with doctoral education and doctoral supervision from different perspectives. It can be research articles as well as reflections on ongoing teaching practice, or essays (in-depth discussions) that highlight interesting experiences from supervisors, doctoral students, directors of studies or course organisers of research supervision courses.
We want your completed manuscript by 31 January 2025. More information about Högre utbildning, our text categories and, for example, the journal’s special advice to authors can be found on the Högre utbildning website: https://hogreutbildning.se/index.php/hu .
