Open learning to me is the extension of accessibility to educational approaches that prioritize accessibility and inclusivity. It is important to me to benefit from technological tools to enhance the accessibility of materials in online courses, open educational resources, and other methods of learning that are designed to be freely available to anyone who is interested in participating. I really value the goal of open learning to make education more accessible and affordable for students/ people regardless of their geographical location or socioeconomic status. At Karlstad university, we really value open-access research, which based on university contracts or funds from projects we pay a share of the publisher, and then everyone can have free access to recent research. in many countries, in Africa or Asia people do not have access to educational institutions or unable to afford the cost of tuition and other fees. Through the internet and digital application wide veriety of materials such as youtube tutorials, webinars and e-book could contribute to the well-being of societies. Additionally, technology has also facilitated the creation of online learning communities and forums, where people can connect with each other, share knowledge, and support each other in their learning journey. For example, technology had a critical role in the growth and development of the open education movement toward digital currency and financial analysis. It is important to contribute to openly licensed resources (e.g., OpenCourseWare, the Open Education Consortium, and the Open Educational Resources (OER) Commons) in the classroom so that students can understand the outcomes of open learning. I try to always include open learning resources as one of the resources for assignment completion and also digital tools (padlet, google drive, miro) in group tasks to practice open hub knowledge generation.
