Ethics and ethos in the Finnish pilot
Following are some insights from the use of co-creation tools and approach:
- It is easier for youth to talk to a same-aged interviewer than to a ”professional” as it represents more equal relationships.
- Ethics of interviewing and using the material must be talked through before the interview and must be followed after.
- Don’t take the needs or narratives of citizens assisted by services for granted! Analyse true stories and draw conclusions then.
- Using generic need profiles as a tool for starting a conversation was very useful instead of pointing out individual situations which could make people feel unsafe.
- Co-creative activities need to assure the participants’ in the target group integrity by for example profiling and distancing from the personal and by allowing people to choose how much they’d talk about themselves and how much through the profile.
