Multiplier event in Abegondo

The multiplier event in Abegondo took place in Beche recreational area, Folgoso, Abegondo

The multiplier event held in Abegondo constituted a means to share the results of two of of the Transit Outputs (the Background analysis and the E-Learning modules) among the citizens and the main stakeholders of the territory. In the event, four presentations was held by technicians involved in the transit project. Additionally, the event was leaded by the mayor, in order to demonstrate the implication in the project of the decisions makers.

The mayor welcomes everyone to the event and presents the main target and results of the Transit project in his municipality and in all territory of the Biosphere Reserve. During the presentation the technician summarized the results of Abegondo from the initial survey (the Background analysis) and the diagnoses of cycling mobility. According to this, the municipal strategy was presented in short and medium/long term with the main actions developed and/or to be develop. Lastly, the best practices of the rest of the partners (collected in the e-learning modules) were shown.

The municipal architect explained the project that will connect the main municipal nodes (primary school, secondary school and the recreational area of Beche, through the creation of a bicycle lane segregated from motorized traffic. This project has its origins in the Biciestradas initiative, devised during the city council’s participation in the Transit project.

The definition of itineraries of the Biosphere Ecotourism Trails was presented by a technician. This is the first step to improve the active mobility in the seventeen municipalities of the Biosphere Reserve, connecting urban areas with rural ones and the coastal territories with those of the interior, through the recovery of traditional paths. This action may be also considered an output of the Transit project.
