Examinating the application of well-defined methods

Examinate the ability to apply well-defined methods, e. g. mathematical calculation techniques, formulas, etc. with algorithmic solutions (i. e. unambiguously right or wrong).

Examples on this type of course objectives are knowledge about how to apply mathematical or physical formulas for basic problem solving. Other examples are basic methods for book-keeping and computer programming.

The challenge here is the fact that it may be easy to find ready-made solutions to many of the basic problems on the Internet or in textbooks. One strategy to meet this challenge is to design a bank of questions, and give each student questions randomly assigned from the question bank and have the input values for each question also randomly set. Such a examination strategy is easy to apply with Canvas Quizzes.

  • Att använda Canvas (How to use Canvas. Swedish only)
UPE has good teacher manuals for how to use Quizzes in Canvas. See the section Kom igång med quizzar !

A special case is when mathematical symbols and arrays are required which are difficult to present digitally with e. g. word processor without special functionality. Contact UPE’s support for access to such aids.
