Examples on this type of course objectives are knowledge about how to apply mathematical or physical formulas for basic problem solving. Other examples are basic methods for book-keeping and computer programming.

The challenge here is the fact that it may be easy to find ready-made solutions to many of the basic problems on the Internet or in textbooks. One strategy to meet this challenge is to design a bank of questions, and give each student questions randomly assigned from the question bank and have the input values for each question also randomly set.
