Masculinities, Social Class and the Australian VET Sector: Challenges, Identities and Possibilities
Historically, vocational education and training has been a crucial site for understanding how masculinities and social class intersect to shape educational experiences, identities, and future opportunities. In many parts of the world this remains true, yet we are seeing evidence of change. This seminar explores how gendered and classed expectations influence participation, aspirations and experiences within both Australian higher education and VET(TAFE). It considers how vocational education might both reproduce and challenge existing inequalities and invites critical discussion regarding social change and vocational pathways.
