Plagiarism

Students who plagiarize, intentionally or unintentionally, is a fairly big issue for any teacher who assesss exam assignments. We can attack plagiarism in two ways: prevent it or detect it.

In addition to designing exam assignments so that plagiarism (and other cheating) becomes more difficult, we can also help students understand what plagiarism is and how to avoid it. The University Library has an information page about plagiarism for students which contains tips and advice on how students can avoid plagiarism and referencing correctly.

To detect plagiarism, we have an automatic plagiarism check of submissions with the tool Ouriginal in Canvas. You will find information and instructions via Inslaget (the KAU intranet), Utbildning (Education), Stödsystem (Support System), Ouriginal textjämförelse (Ouriginal text comparison; only in Swedish) and on the Ouriginal website (in English and Swedish).
